Every Monday and Tuesday, Mr McKenna has been running a soccer league at break and lunch-times for the children in Key Stage 1 and 2.
Key Stage 1 League (Mondays) -There were four teams - the reds, yellows, blues and greens - consisting of five players each. Each team got to play each other once, with 1st place playing 4th place in the first semi-final and 2nd and 3rd place playing in the second semi-final. The yellows won their semi final against the greens 4-0 and the reds defeated the blues 4-3 to reach the final.
Going into the final, no one could predict the outcome but it was the yellows who came out as victors, defeating the reds convincingly 5-0.
The winning team were then presented with medals in assembly. Congratulations Yellows!
Key Stage 2 League (Tuesdays) There were 5 teams consisting of 6 players each- The reds, yellows, greens, blues and oranges. All teams played each other once with the team in last place being eliminated and first place playing fourth place in one semi final and second and third place playing in the other semi final. Oranges and Yellows both won their respective semi-finals to set up an intriguing final, with both teams very evenly matched.
In the end the oranges overcame a resolute yellow team, defeating them 3-1 to be crowned Key Stage 2 Lunchtime League Champions 2019.
Well done to all boys and girls that participated, competing very competitively but fairly and showing great sportsmanship at all times.
